Celebrating 40 years of Occupational Therapy at York St John University

2017 marks the year York St John have been delivering Occupational Therapy Education for 40 years. For their 40th celebrations the University hosted a summer barbeque for external partners, professional practice educators and students on Saturday 3rd June 2017.[ezcol_2third]OT 40th[/ezcol_2third] [ezcol_1third_end]tons of cakes!Lovely cakes on offer in Temple Hall & The Quad.[/ezcol_1third_end]The afternoon provided the opportunity for staff and students past and present to network, share stories, see the new campus plus enjoy entertainment from York St John and alumni.

[ezcol_2third]OT team[/ezcol_2third] [ezcol_1third_end]With the sun shining and so many different generations of York St John Occupational Therapists present, it was truly a fantastic afternoon for all involved.

Congratulations to the York St John OT team for such an enjoyable 40th celebration event.

Board meeting Zagreb, Croatia 26 & 27 May 2017

Board meeting hosted at the new headquarters of the Croatian Association of Occupational Therapists, Zagreb, Croatia 26 & 27 May 2017. 

Friday 26 May we spent the day working on abstract selection, development of the programme structure and content. Here is a photograph of the Saša Radic, host lead for the October Annual, Marie-Antoinette Minis, President of ENOTHE and Professor Verner Majijančić, from the University of Rejika, Croatia. The lunchtime meeting was arranged to enable sharing of advice and support for the development of a new occupational therapy programme at the University.

Saturday 27 May was a full day for the Board focusing on marketing, the future of the ENOTHE office, budgets, projects and membership fees.

Update of the ENOTHE Board Meeting held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, 22–24 September 2016

Firstly the ENOTHE Board and office would like to thank Amsterdam School of Health Professions, Soemitro Poebodipoero and Stephanie Saenger (President of COTEC) for being excellent hosts.

The Board had a guided tour of the new facilities led by Danée Arends, an Occupational Therapy student of the University.

The University provided an excellent lunch in the dining room and enabled new Board members to meet with our Colleagues from COTEC.

Financial Advisory Reference Group Meeting (FARG)

A FARG meeting took place in Abcoude, Amsterdam. Ton Satink and Luc Vercruysse met with the ENOTHE office staff and Ursula Gubler Thomann (Treasurer) to discuss ENOTHE finances. The role of FARG is to monitor how ENOTHE members’ money is being for used.

ENOTHE Board

The new ENOTHE Board had three full days meetings as there is a great deal of work that the network requires progressing by the Board. Topics included working as a team, identifying roles and responsibilities, developing an action plan based upon the ENOTHE Strategy 2016 – 2020 and reviewing project applications.  The Board were very pleased to receive six project proposal applications.  All project applicants will receive a response in the very near future.

Discussion and evaluation took place following the first 2016 COTEC ENOTHE Congress held in Galway, Ireland and preparations for the 2017 ENOTHE Annual Meeting to be held in Zagreb, Croatia were considered.

OT-EU developments

Joint meetings took place between the two presidents and vice presidents, and the full ENOTHE Board and the COTEC Executive Committee with the focus being on how to progress OT-EU developments.

2016 Hanneke van Bruggen Lecture

This year ENOTHE were pleased to welcome Associate Professor Sylvie Meyer from University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland who delivered the prestigious Hanneke van Bruggen Lecture, to a very large audience. Sylvie’s lecture was entitled ‘In pursuit of the professionalization of occupational therapy’.
